
Are the staff qualified and do they have police checks?
Over half of our team have the relevant child care qualifications and
experience to work with children from three months to five years.
Those who are not qualified are working towards child care qualifications
and all staff go on at least three training courses a year. We have monthly
staff meeting to review training and to keep all staff updated with the
national standards and Ofsted requirements. Once our staff do qualify we
offer them a qualified position within the nursery so we hope to become a
100% qualified team in the future.
All our staff have CRB police checks and no one is ever left alone with the
children. All staff have relevant references carried out before the
beginning of employment.
We do not use agencies, we have a good team of bank staff who come in and
cover the staffs holidays, half days and any sickness. The bank staff know
the children, parents, staff and how the nursery is run and enable staff
absence to be as less stressful and disruptive as possible for every one.
Our staff turn over has been very low and we have our original team of staff
who opened the nursery in April 2006. Although we are not yet fully staffed
we will be recruiting more staff as more children start to attend the
nursery. We currently have six full time staff and seven bank staff.
